Building & Renovation Projects
A building project is easier to discuss when the result and boundaries are written down. Explain which rooms or parts of the property will change, what you want to keep and whether you have drawings. Larger work may involve several specialists, so agree who coordinates the project and who makes decisions when the scope changes.
Perfect Tradesmen is preparing for launch. Registering interest does not book work or guarantee an available tradesperson.
Jobs to discuss with a professional
- Home renovation and alterations
- Building repairs and making good
- Coordinating several trades on one project
Before you ask for a quote
- Separate required work from optional improvements and state your budget range.
- Identify any drawings, surveys or approvals already obtained.
- Discuss access, occupied areas, protection and disposal of materials.
- Ask for written stages, inclusions, exclusions and a process for agreeing variations.
Can I get a useful quote before I have drawings?
An early conversation can help establish what information is missing, but a detailed fixed scope may need drawings or specialist input. Ask what the builder has assumed and which costs are provisional. Comparable quotes need a consistent brief.
For any quote, agree the work, exclusions, timing and how changes will be approved. Keep a written record so both sides know what is included.
