Plastering & Wall Repairs

Plastering can range from repairing a small damaged patch to preparing every wall in a room for decoration. Describe the existing surface and why work is needed. Recurring cracks or moisture should be assessed before being covered, as a new finish alone may not address the cause.

Perfect Tradesmen is preparing for launch. Registering interest does not book work or guarantee an available tradesperson.

Jobs to discuss with a professional

  • Wall and ceiling skimming
  • Patch repairs after other building work
  • Plasterboard and surface preparation

Before you ask for a quote

  • Photograph damaged areas and estimate the size of the surfaces.
  • State whether old wallpaper, loose plaster or fittings need removing.
  • Discuss floor protection, access to water and waste collection.
  • Ask when the surface can be decorated and who is responsible for the final finish.

Does every wall need a full skim?

Not necessarily. Local repairs may be appropriate when the surrounding surface is sound. A plasterer can assess the existing material and the finish you want. Make sure the quote describes the proposed preparation and whether it covers a patch, one wall or the whole room.

For any quote, agree the work, exclusions, timing and how changes will be approved. Keep a written record so both sides know what is included.
