Painting & Decorating
A decorating quote depends on the condition of the surfaces as well as the number of rooms. Fresh plaster, stained walls, damaged woodwork and old wallpaper each need different preparation. Explain the finish you want and the current state of walls, ceilings and trim so the scope is clear before colours are chosen.
Perfect Tradesmen is preparing for launch. Registering interest does not book work or guarantee an available tradesperson.
Jobs to discuss with a professional
- Interior walls, ceilings and woodwork
- Wallpaper removal and surface preparation
- Exterior painting and protective finishes
Before you ask for a quote
- List the rooms, approximate sizes and surfaces to include.
- Point out cracks, peeling paint or damp so underlying problems can be assessed.
- Agree who supplies paint and whether preparation and materials are included.
- Discuss furniture protection, working hours, drying time and clearing up.
Should plastering happen before decorating?
If the surface needs repair or a new skim, agree that work before the decorating schedule. The surface must be ready for the selected finish. Ask the trades involved to coordinate preparation and timing, rather than treating filling, plastering and painting as interchangeable tasks.
For any quote, agree the work, exclusions, timing and how changes will be approved. Keep a written record so both sides know what is included.
